Candle Care and Safety Tips for a Safe Burning Experience

Candle Care and Safety

  • Store candles in a cool dry place.

  • Keep candles out of reach of children and pets.

  • Always burn within sight. Never burn on or near anything that may catch fire.

  • Always place your candle on a level, fire resistant surface since the vessel may become hot when lit. For this reason you should avoid touching or moving a burning candle.

  • Avoid using lit candles in drafty areas.

  • Always trim your candle wick to at least 1/4 inch [1/8th inch for wooden wicks] prior to each burn and remove excess wick trimmings or debris before relighting. This will help minimize sooting and flickering of your candle flame. This will also help ensure an even flame, an ideal melt pool and maximize the life of your candle.

  • Always allow your candle wax to achieve a full melt pool for maximum fragrance throw. (A full melt pool is achieved when the top layer of wax has melted along the full diameter of the candle jar).

  • Make a habit of never burning a candle in excess of 3 to 4 hours at a time.

  • It is best to use a wick snuffer or a fire-resistant cover when extinguishing a candle flame.

  • Always allow a burned candle to cool completely before relighting.

  • Stop use when only 1/4 inch of wax remains at the bottom of the vessel.
